Did you know that you can choose your Dental Laboratory?

Although most of the time your dentist is contracted into a dental laboratory, this is by relationship only. As a patient you have the right to ask certain questions about the quality of the work that is done by their selected lab and you also have the right to choose who you would like to do your work.

Did you know a Dentist normally does not make your crowns?
Many patients think that the final prosthesis is made by the dentist that is not the case. Most dentists contract the work out to a local trusted laboratory. Be careful of "instant" crowns that are made one site they are normally milled and often milled by a unqualified person, ask before you say yes to anything that is a quick fix. While these crowns may fit well they do not contain all the intrinsic colours that your teeth should have. Remember a machine at this stage can't do a better job than years of ceramic experience, maybe one day in the future...... but not just yet! Even the multi layered milling blocks today cant get all the intrinsic colours in the crown. Remember a Dentist is not a Dental technicain nor is a Dental assistant. Remember if you want a great looking crown you want a specialist to do your work! So if you were going to pay a lot of money for a crown would you not want the best person to work on it....simple. Plumbers don't work as electricians.

Did you know that you get different quality crowns from different Dental Laboratories?
There are dfifferent quality labs around the world. Some have cheap labour that is unqualified some may not even be registared laboratories. South Coast Dental Ceramics is a registered Dental Laboratory with qualified technicians.

How do I know if I am getting a quality crown?

Well you wont know!!! That is the problem. The best way to find out what type of work will be done in your mouth is to visit the laboratory and see what they do. Ask questions like what material are you using? How will you ensure the quality of the crown in terms of fit and colour? Who will be working on my crown? lastly if you look in the mirror and it does not look perfect then.......well it should be perfect! Our work at South Coast Dental Ceramics comes with a guarantee.

Did you know that prices are negotiable with a Dental Technician?

Even though there are recommened prices given to you by the dentist or your medical scheme the prices of crown and bridge work still remains in a competitive market. There are tolerences that the lab will have in terms of price and even a payment plan if you require one.

Did you know that you can repair your Denture?

Has a clasp broken off or have you just lost a tooth and there is a gap in your denture? South Coast Dental Ceramics has a repair service which can save you alot of money.
